Neither of last weeks top two teams played tonight but Lightning Strikes retain top spot with a five point lead over X-Men who rise from fourth to second. Pin Pals drop to third but only a single point behind. It's close in the top half of the table - Duo in sixth are only seven points behind the leaders.

No high scores again tonight; Keith MacFarlane was close to a 500 series with 488 (596 with handicap) and Rich Lester scored 477 (558). Karl King had the best handicap series, 610 (475 scratch - an improvement of 30 on his season's best) and Liz Lake almost reached 600 with 597 (423). Chris Woodward had the best game at scratch and handicap, 198 (238).

Terry Emmony got a 5-8-10 split.

The league scratch average improved marginally by 0.1 to 136.6.

Lightning Strikes take over at the top from Pin Pals after winning 8-4 against Duo and taking six points from their back match with Glitter Girls. They lead by six from PinPals who have a five point lead over Duo in third. Non of the top four teams have had their bye week yet so their positions may be under pressure in the coming weeks.

Merv Farrow's good form continues and he was top scorer with 553 (661 with handicap) including the best game of the night, 208 (244). Phil Highton also had a good night on his second game of the season with a 525 (660) series including a 200 (245) game. Best series with handicap was by Barbara Lewis, 671 (515 scratch), the second best handicap series of the league so far.

Berenice Davies (486, 660) and Bunz Hughes (492, 645) both improved their scratch high series by 65 pins tonight.

Kev King was succesful with the difficult 8-10 split and both Tony Pearce and Mick King converted 5-10 splits.

The league scratch average jumped by 0.6 to 136.5.

With their fifth win so far Pin Pals climb to the top of the table, two points ahead of Lightning Strikes who postponed their match to next week. Another point behind is Duo climbing from fifth place this week after beating KTFD 12-0. Hit & Miss rise from seventh to fourth after taking ten points off Boom.

Only Rich Lester broke the 500 mark tonight with 534 (618 with handicap) but Gareth Gillard and Steve Emmony were close. Gareth hit the best game of the night, 198 (234) and had his third 600+ handicap series in a row.

Three bowlers had new high games; Berenice Davis was 7 higher at 176 (235), Joe Hill by 25 to 174 (233) and Karl King by 16 to 176 (221).

John Bryer was successful with a 4-6-10 split. and Dom Clarke got a 2-4-10.

The league scratch average fell again by 0.6 to 135.9.

More strange results this week with the top two teams Mac Too and Ladies Who Bowl being whitewashed and losing their places. Last week's third place, Lightning Strikes, won 12-0 and jump to the top of the table with an eight point margin over new second place Pin Pals.

Merv Farrow was top scorer this week with a seasons best 532 (655 with handicap). Gareth Gillard had a second 500 series in a row; 506 (620) No 200 games this week but Rich Lester and Merv Farrow both had 195 games.

Liz Lake had a new high game, 24 higher at 165 (226)

In spite of plenty of practice across many lanes, nobody converted any splits.

The league scratch average fell slightly to 136.5.

The top three teams failed to win tonight and the chasing teams close the gap. Mac Too and Lightning Strikes both lost 4-8 to X-Men and Hot Chris Bunz while Duo drew with Brothers Grimm. Mac Too stay in top spot though and by the same margin - four points - from Ladies Who Bowl who jump to second after another good win, 12-0 over KTFD.

The top scorers almost all came from the Duo v Brothers Grimm match. Rich Lester had the best scratch series, 574 (670 with handicap) while Steve Emmony had the best game, 215 (257). Both scratch scores were the highest of the league so far. Gareth Gillard had the best handicap series of the league, 698 (569 scratch) and he also had a 200 (243) game.

Several bowlers improved their high scores tonight: Nicola by 28 to 459, Merv +44 to 491, Mick Freeborn +16 also to 491, Karen +27 to 436 and Lesley +1 to 357.

Terry Highton converted a 4-7-10 split

The league scratch average improved by 1.6 pins to 136.7.

Another win by Mac Too, by 10-2 against Pin Pals, means that they move further ahead of Lightning Strikes in second place. Their lead is now four points and another five points ahead of Duo in third. Duo took ten points tonight and 12 from a back match.

A good week for Ladies Who Bowl with both Karen and Rose at the top of the high score lists. Karen had the best game of the night with 180 (239 with handicap) with Rose only two behind in the same game. Their handicap team game is the best of the league so far, 467. Rose was the only bowler over 500 this week with 506 (656 - the highest in the league.) Sarah Standley returned to form with the second best handicap series, 644 (428 scratch)

Mick King made a 5-10

The league scratch average fell by 1.5 pins to 135.1.

Mac Too reclaim top spot from Boom after winning twelve points from the match tonight and their postponed match. They have a two point lead over Lightning Strikes who also scored twelve points from two matches.Another five points behind are Boom who lost tonight in a close game against Lightning Strikes.

Keith MacFarlane was top scorer with 489 (567 with handicap) and he also had the best game, 202 (228) which is amazingly the best game of the league so far. Ray Telfer wa next best with 481 (592). Dom Clarke of the Hollywood team and Anita Highton had the best handicap games, 644.

With the postponement of the match between the leading two teams Mac Too and Lightning Strikes and despite losing 5-7 to Duo, Boom make an appearance at the top of the table. They are one point ahead of Mac Too and three ahead of Hot Chris Bunz in equal third.

Many bowlers struggled to reach their averages and there were no 200 games or 500 series. Almost half of the players didn't reach 400 tonight. Rich Lester had the highest series, 493 (592 with handicap) and Chris Woodward had a 194 game (230)
Donna Smith had the best handicap scores; 240 (173 scratch) and 625 series (424)
The league scratch average fell by 6.3 to 131.3

After a second 12-0 win, this time against Duo, Mac Too keep ahead of Lightning Strikes who dropped two points against the Specials. Hot Chris Bunz and Boom stay in touch in third, just four points behind the leaders.

Some higher scores this week with three series over 500 and two 200 games. John Bryer was top scorer with 517 (631 with handicap) with Keith MacFarlane and Terry Emmony close behind. Chris Johnson had the best handicap series; 640 (469 scratch). Both Brothers Grimm had 200 games this week. but Chris Johnson also had the best handicap game, 249 (192).

Mick King made a 5-7 and Terry Highton got one on the other side, 5-10.

The league scratch average improved by 4.3 to 137.6

In a week when many people struggled to bowl to their averages, Keith and Di, Mac Too, both scored over 470 to record a 12-0 win over new team, Hollywood. Lightning Strikes also scored twelve against another new team Wright Stuff and Boom did the same against Karen Davies & Lesley Knight who has returned to the league after four years.

Graham Lewis was top scorer with 483 (570 with handicap) with Ray Telfer not far behind with 481 (571). Mick Freeborn had the best game, just falling short of 200 with 199 (235) and Ray Relfer was second again on180 (210). The MacFarlanes were both in the top three handicap series.


Nikki Rye Holland was succesful with a 4-10 split. Anita Highton conerted a 5-10 split.
