RTFB rounded off their season with a big 12-0 win over former champions Dominoes. They finished 27 points above Brothers Grimm who were 22 points in front of Mac Too in third.

Another week with a quarter of the bowlers hitting 500+ series. Mick Freeborn had his best match of the league, improving his high scratch series by 108 pins to 582 (723 with handicap - the second best of the league) which included his first two games over 200.

Tony King also had his first 500 series with an improvement of 61 pins to 552 (687). Martin Cook and Steve Emmony also had 552 series and both had high games of 200.

The league scratch average improved by another 0.2 to 145.0

As expected, RTFB have won the league by a big margin and with a week to play. The gap between them and Brothers Grimm in second stayed at 23 points after both teams were beaten 10-2 tonight. This loss ends an unbeaten run of 21 matches for RTFB. Mac Too in third only picked up 10 points from a possible 24 from their match tonight and a back match and now must defend third place against the Young Ones in the final week.

More good scoring tonight with eight bowlers reaching 500. Terry Highton was top scorer with a season best 581 (683 with handicap) including two 200+ games. John Bryer, with a back match, had two scores over 570. Harry Hargreaves hit a new high game for this league with a 225 (257).

Carrie Bryer and Mike Davies both slightly improved their high series.

Brothers Grimm now only have a mathematical chance of overtaking RTFB and the league positions are unlikely to alter with two weeks to go. RTFB top the table by 23 points from Brothers Grimm who are 34 points ahead of Mac Too who have a game in hand.

Some very good scoring tonight, notably from Martin Cook and the Turkeys who now head most of the league to date high score lists. Martin hit a scratch score of 628 (727 with handicap) including the best game of the night, 233 (266). Richard Lester and Graham Lewis playing in the same match, were both in the 580s scratch and both had 5 strikes in a row.

The two leading teams RTFB and Brothers Grimm both won 12-0 tonight and move further away from the chasing teams. The gap between first and second remains at 19 with only three weeks to play. drew 6-6 last night in a close match from the start. Mac Too retain third place with an 8-4 win over the Owls but they are now 30 points behind Bros Grimm.

Mick King was top scorer with 586 (658 with handicap) which is the fourth best series of the league. Mary Grayson had the next best handicap series with 648 and she alos tied for best handicap game with Diane MacFarlane with 245 (201 scratch - her first this season) . Diane also had her best game of the season, 15 higher at 198.

Carrie Bryer improved her best series by 2 to 421 (607)

Anita Highton converted a 2-4-10 split.Rich Lester had a clean game in scoring a 201 game.
In addition to the 4-7-10 split Steve Emmony got last week, he also converted a 4-10.

The league scratch average improved by 0.1 to 144.5

RTFB and Brothers Grimm drew 6-6 last night in a close match from the start. This was probably the last chance of any team to catch RTFB and they carry a lead of 19 points into the last four matches. Mac Too moved back to third place with a 12-0 win over SOS but are 26 points behind Bros Grimm and 45 behind the leaders.

Nicola Rye-Holland had an excellent match, hitting a 588 scratch series (678 with handicap) which was 45 higher than her previous best this season and which included the second best game of the season - 252 (282 - the new best score of the league). Alan Barton was next highest scorer with a season best 554 (653) including a clean 219 game (252)

Several players inproved their high scores this week: Kim Stone had her best series this season, 24 higher at 503 (647), Diane MacFarlane improved her game and series scores by 8 to 183 (231) and by 13 to 442 (586), Merv Farrow had a new high series, +10 to 542 (638).

Barbara Lewis had a new high game, +13 to 197 (256) and Keith MacFarlane scored a 215 (254), 12 higher thann his previous best.

Brothers Grimm in second place clawed back six points from leaders RTFB by taking all the points against fourth place X-Men. RTFB could only draw with Hit & Miss and their lead is cut to 19 points. After a walk through, the Young Ones move up three places to third, a further 31 points behind the leaders.

John Bryer found some good form in game one with a new league high game of 258 which was based on a run of seven strikes in a row. His 279 with handicap equals the league best and he went on to a 568 series (631 with handicap). Keith MacFarlane had his first 500 series for some weeks with a 524 (644 - the best this week.)

Tony Pearce had a new high series score for this league, 6 higher at 455 (635)


Mike Davies got the best split conversion this week with a 5-7.

RTFB were back to winning ways with a 10-2 win over third place X-Men. Brothers Grimm in second also won but lost two points on the leaders. RTFB's lead is now 25 points to second and 49 to new third place Mac Too.

Gary Wileman had the best series - 556 (637 with handicap) and the best game 231 (258). Terry Highton had his best match for some time, scoring 544 (652 - the best of the week) and Rich Lester returned to form with a 536 series (608)

Susi Cousins improved her high series for this league by 17 pins to 426 (606) and Tim Hill also had a new high series, +3 to 480 (615). Donna Smith got onto the high score list for the first time with a new personal best game, 23 pins higher at 181 (243). Mary Grayson hit a new high game, 5 higher at 189 (233)


Berenice Davies picked up a 6-7-10 split and almost got a similar split in the next frame.

RTFB were held to a draw by The Owls tonight and their lead was cut by two points. Brothers Grimm beat Turkeys by 8-4 in a high scoring match and are now 23 points behind. X-Men move into third place on their own after Mac Too only won two points against the Young Ones.

Steve Emmony was top scorer this week with 560 scratch (641 with handicap) including one of only three 200+ games tonight. All four players hit 500+ series in the Brothers Grimm v Turkeys match.

Alan Barton improved his high game by 46 pins in scoring the best game of the night; 235 (269) and also improved his high series by 21 to 528 (630). Tim Hill had a new high game, +11 to 193 (239) and Mandy King also had a new high game +14 to 142 (217).

Nicola Rye-Holland had a clean game in scoring 194 (225)

After another win - by 8-4 against Turkeys - RTFB extend their lead to 25 points tonight. The second vs third match, Brothers Grimm and Mac Too resulted in a draw so neither team made any ground up on the leaders. With only 8 weeks to go, RTFB look to be coasting home.

Very few high scores this week: only three 500+ series and no 200+ games. RTFB were top of most of the high score lists with Gary Wileman having the best scratch series 543 (624 with handicap) including the best game,196 (223) and Tony King with the best handicap game 224 (179 scratch)

Kim Stone improved her high series for this season by 5 to 479 (623).

RTFB won their match with third place Mac Too to go further ahead of them at the top of the table. Brothers Grimm also won 10-2 and so don't make any progress in closing the 23 point gap. Mac Too face a 41 point gap to first place and X-Men in fourth a 43 point gap.

John Bryer was top scorer this week with a 560 series (626 with handicap -the highest this week) including one of only three 200+ games. Rich Lester was next best with 525 (597). Tony King had the best handicap game, 248 (202 scratch - a new high game for this season)

Mike Davies improved his high scores; series by 12 to 333 (558) and game by 10 to 127 (202)

Yet another win by RTFB - by 8-4 over the holders Lightning Strikes - maintains their big lead over Brothers Grimm. Mac Too in third made up some more ground this week and trail the leaders by 33 points. Even with 10 weeks to go, RTFB look like easy winners.

As last week, there were seven 500+ series but only four games over 200 indicating some consistent bowling. Dale Cousins was top scorer with 565 (643 with handicap), a new season best, which included two of the 200 games. Steve Emmony was close behind with 560 (641).

Mary Grayson had the best handicap series with 645 (510 scratch). Richard Lester had the best game and a new season high 232 (256).

Alan Barton improved his high game for this league by four pins to 189 (224)

Not really a split because the head pin was involved, but Graham Lewis dealt with a 1-3-8 three times.
